MEGREM SOFTBALL CASE STUDY

Developing a Custom Education Solution

CLIENT

INDUSTRY

Youth Sports

Megan Rembielak is a former Division 1 softball star who created her own training business for aspiring young players. She spent several years working hard at building her brand, creating a website, recording videos, creating practice plans, conducting private clinics, and managing a growing social following.

Having achieved a substantial following, Megan’s growth had begun to slow as she reached the outer limits of her herculean work ethic. It was time to take MegRem Softball to the next level.

CHALLENGE

In preparing for the birth of her daughter, Megan recognized that she needed professional assistance to help her enterprise progress. She contracted DAMN GOOD agency in early 2024 to help her upgrade the MegRem website.

The new website needed to solve the issues that had been inhibiting MegRem’s growth. Like the previous MegRem website, the new site had to operate as an e-commerce site, but a more robust system was needed to allow for merch sales, as well as memberships. The site’s member section needed to be completely revamped to make it easier for members to navigate and use. It also needed to perform better in both search and UX than the previous site.

So not only did the site need to be significantly expanded, it also needed to be easy enough for a very busy new mother to manage.

STRATEGY

Despite the e-commerce elements, both DAMN GOOD and the client recognized that the website was ultimately educational. Thus, the agency explored numerous solutions involving commercial Learning Management Systems (LMS) that integrated with ecommerce.

Because Megan would most likely be managing the site on her own, DAMN GOOD specifically sought out platforms that were both user-friendly and cost effective. It was also important for the agency to avoid custom or proprietary solutions that would be difficult for the client to upgrade or maintain. However, for the features required, no single platform existed.

SOLUTION

Ultimately, DAMN GOOD’s web development team opted to fuse three different web platforms into one seamless site. It incorporated one of the web’s most popular ecommerce platforms, cleverly integrated with a custom members portal running on the web’s most widely used content management system.

The result was a custom LMS solution that remarkably checked all of MegRem’s boxes:

VIEW WEBSITE

  • It was straightforward and easy for members to navigate and use, with a more secure and well-organized content library for members to peruse.
  • It was solution-driven, serving multiple levels of membership, offering umbrella accounts for user and management groups, and automating many administrative functions.
  • It was cost-effective, both in implementation and maintenance. It was significantly less expensive to maintain than any of the commercial platforms researched.
  • It was stunning. In addition to building the website, DAMN GOOD also evolved the MegRem brand and messaging, putting it ahead of all the competitive brands the agency researched.

“When my business started to pick up and I was getting more traction to my website, I knew I needed to find a team who was able to take my brand and website to the next level to accommodate the new visitors. After stumbling upon Damn Good Agency, I realized fairly quickly I hit the jackpot.”

A primary focus of our learning and e-commerce website solution was delivering a backend that would make the site relatively easy for the client to update, while integrating the different platforms.
